Habitat for Humanity
Victor and Delfina Serna and their four children realized a dream last year. In March of 2008, they found out they were to be one of several new Homeowners in Preparation (HiPs). They had gone through Habitat for Humanity of Smith County’s application process, and were accepted by the Board of Directors on the recommendation of the Family Selection Process.
Today, the Serna family lives in a house built in part by volunteers and contributions from First Presbyterian Church.
Under the leadership of Chuck Flens, FPC raised $20,000 toward the construction of the house, and organized volunteers who worked over several weekends. FPC members collaborated with four other area churches to make this home a reality for the Serna Family.
